Golden Globes awards ~ wew XD

British success at Golden Globes

Kate Winslet and Slumdog Millionaire ensured that it was a memorable night for the British film community at the Golden Globes.

The starlet scooped two awards including best actress in a dramatic film, during a night that also saw success for fellow British actress Sally Hawkins for her role in Mike Leigh's Happy-Go-Lucky.

But it was the story of how improvised Indian teen Jamal Malik became a contestant on the Hindi version of Who Wants to be a Millionaire that proved the biggest winner - taking home four trophies including best dramatic film.

Sunday night's ceremony took place in front of an array of stars at the Beverley Hilton, in Hollywood.

There was early success for Winslet during when she was announced as winner of best supporting actress for her role as a former concentration camp guard in The Reader.

She was called to the stage a second time to pick up best actress in a dramatic role for Revolutionary Road, which saw her reunited with her Titanic co-stars Leonardo DiCaprio.

Fresh on receiving a handful of awards at the Critics' Choice Awards last week, Slumdog Millionaire continued to storm Hollywood.

It took home the prestigious title of best dramatic film. In so doing it triumphed over Winslet's Revolutionary Road and The Reader, Frost/Nixon and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.

There was also awards for its director Danny Boyle, screenplay writer Simon Beaufoy and musical composer A R Rahman.

i think we must see it on television..

what a day??~* say YES?? Yes Man is the answer

Review: Yes Man
BASED on Danny Wallace's humorous memoir, Yes Man is a comedy about what would happen if one man said "yes" to everything that he would have previously dismissed with a cursory "no".

Evidently that air of reckless affirmation – regardless of the consequences - appears to extend to the film-makers, who really should have thought twice about committing to a project that lacks a coherent script or well-developed characters.

Writing trio Nicholas Stoller, Jarrad Paul and Andrew Mogel take a neat central conceit and go nowhere with it, contriving a series of ludicrous vignettes that guarantee maximum gurning from rubber-faced leading man Jim Carrey, pictured below left.

Carl Allen (Carrey) oversees the approval of loan applications at the bank where he works alongside nerdy, Harry Potter-obsessed boss Norm (Rhys Darby).

He is a man going nowhere,

so decides to attend a self-help seminar run by the enigmatic Terrence Bundley (Terence Stamp).

Publicly shamed into embracing the power of 'yes', Carl embraces this radical, new code of conduct and miraculously begins to reap the benefits. However, saying yes to everything soon lands Carl in hot water.

Yes Man is a pot pourri of lacklustre elements. While the lead character says yes without thinking, we have to say no.

and then..
we have to watch it..
really love it..
4 thumbs up^^
